LEXPARK Spotlight: Meet Charles!

Maintaining the quality of day-to-day functions is always first and foremost for LEXPARK’s Operations Manager Charles! Charles is responsible for the daily tasks set forth by his management role, but also spends his time identifying areas for enhancement for the overall parking experience in Lexington. Focused on continuous improvement, he implements strategies and develops procedures intended to manage LEXPARK parking expectations for both visitors to Lexington and those who call it home.

Charles served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp from 1965 – 1971 including Vietnam from 1968 – 1969. Initially attracted to the position in 2008 because of his past employment as a regional sales manager and product manager, Charles credits his time at EKU where he received a degree in general business as a jumping-off point for seeking out a management role at LEXPARK.

As an Operations Manager, Charles oversees the efficiency and function of LEXPARK‘s parking facilities. This includes improvements to the community by way of updated technology and access to better parking options. When recalling one of his most rewarding memories of working at LEXPARK, Charles stated, “My most significant project was when we replaced the original multi-space meters with the new and improved models.”

Focusing on daily functions of a business is an involved job, but Charles believes that his greatest strength is working with people and encouraging them to do their best every single day. This positive attitude lends itself well to the role of Operations Manager, where he often has multiple tasks with multiple workers in progress at the same time. When not managing the day-to-day operations of LEXPARK, Charles enjoys visiting Downtown Lexington and dining out at the various local restaurants and hot spots.

One of the most important aspects of LEXPARK‘s work is always the process of navigating the ease, accessibility, and availability of parking in Downtown Lexington. This remains one of the cornerstones of our most focused efforts. As Operations Manager, Charles believes that the value that LEXPARK brings to Lexington is within encouraging personal responsibility with each of the drivers around the city, as “that makes parking more available for everyone in our community.”
